【摘要】:ThispartofISO/IEC9314specifiestheSingle-modefibrePhysicalLayerMediumDependent(SMF-PMD)requirementsfortheFibreDistributedDataInterface(FDDI).FDDIprovidesahighbandwidth(100megabitspersecond)generalpurposeinterconnectionamongcomputersandperipheralequipmentusingafibreopticwaveguideasthetransmissionmedium.TheFDDImaybeconfiguredtosupportasustainedtransferrateofapproximately80megabits(10megabytes)persecond.TheFDDImaynotmeettheresponsetimerequirementsofallunbufferedhighspeeddevices.TheFDDIestablishestheconnectionamongmanystationsdistributedoverdistancesofseveralkilometersinextent.DefaultvaluesforFDDIwerecalculatedonthebasisof1000physicalconnectionsandatotalfibrepathlengthof200kilometers(seetheMACStandard–ISO/IEC9314-2orISO/IEC9314-8).
