【摘要】:Walk-throughmetaldetectorsareaneffectiveandunobtrusivemeansforsearchingforconcealedmetallicweaponsandSNM(specialnuclearmaterial)shieldingmaterial.Thedetectorsaregenerallyappliedtopreventtheunauthorizedentryofweaponsintofacilities,andtheftorunauthorizedremovalofSNM.Dailyfunctionaltestingofmetaldetectorsshowsthattheyareoperatingandwillproducethecorrectalarmsignal;thesignificantuseoflessfrequentin-plantevaluationsprovidesdatafromwhichtodetermineifdetectorsareoperatingatexpectedperformancelevels.Thispracticeprovidesasystemofproceduresforevaluatingthedetectionperformanceofwalk-throughmetaldetectors.Theproceduresspecifydatatoberecordedandusedforestablishing,tracking,andauditingmetaldetectorperformanceandoperation.Thispracticesuggestsdocumentationformaintainingperformancerecords.AppendixX4providesexamplesofformsforrecordingandtrackingdetectoroperationandperformancetesting.1.1Thispracticeisoneofseveral(seeAppendixX1)developedtoassistoperatorsofnuclearfacilitieswithmeetingthemetaldetectionperformancerequirementssetbyregulatoryauthorities.1.2Thispracticeconsistsoffourproceduresusefulforevaluatingthein-plantperformanceofwalk-throughmetaldetectors(seeFig.1).1.2.1Twooftheproceduresprovidedataforevaluatingprobabilityofdetection.Theseproceduresusebinomialdata(alarm/notalarm).1.2.1.1Thedetectionsensitivitytest(DST)178;istheinitialprocedureinthedetectionprobabilityevaluationseries.Itisusedtoestablishtheprobabilityofdetectionimmediatelyafterthedetectorhasbeenadjustedtoitsoperationalsensitivitysetting.1.2.1.2Thedetectionsensitivityverificationtest(DSVT)178;procedureperiodicallyprovidesdataforevaluationofcontinuingdetectionperformance.1.2.2Thethirdprocedureisa"functionaltest."Itisusedroutinelytoverifythatametaldetectorisoperatingandrespondswiththecorrectaudioandvisualsignalswhensubjectedtoaconditionthatshouldcauseanalarm.1.2.3Thefourthprocedureisusedtoverifythatalarmsgeneratedduringdetectionsensitivitytestingwerelikelytheresultofthedetectionofmetalandnotcausedbyoutsideinterferencesortheperturbationofthedetectionfieldbythetester''sbodymass.1.2.3.1Thisprocedurealsocanbeusedtoestablishaprobabilityofoccurrenceforfalsealarms,forexample,20testpassesbyaclean-testerresultinginnoalarmsindicatesafalsealarmprobabilityoflessthan0.15at95%confidence.Thisprocedureisoptionalunlessrequiredbytheregulatoryauthority.1.3Thispracticedoesnotsettestobjectspecifications.Thespecificationsshouldbeissuedbytheregulatoryauthority.1.4Thispracticeisintendedneithertosetperformancelevelsnortolimitorconstraintechnologies.1.5Thispracticedoesnotaddresssafetyoroperationalissuesassociatedwiththeuseofwalk-throughmetaldetectors.
